Transportation Planner

Licking County Area Transportation Study

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; and one to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of travel demand forecast modeling, land use planning, multi-modal planning, economic development and urbanization and how fields of study impact transportation systems.

Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):

Knowledgeable in Land Use Planning, Photography / Video Editing, Public Speaking. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office and other related software. Ability to work independently. Valid Ohio driver’s license.

Hours:

Monday – Friday (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) Salary: Transportation Planner I = $36,000-$44,000 depending on qualifications Transportation Planner II = $42,000-$53,000 depending on qualifications

Duties:

• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. • Promotes and maintains positive and effective working relationships and promotes good public relationships as a representative of Licking County Government. • Aids in long-range transportation plan development. • Implements unified planning work programs. • Assists federal, state, and local public officials, staff, local entities, and consultants in conducting local and regional transportation planning studies, developing and implementing long-range transportation plans and transportation work programs, implementing transportation improvement programs, developing and implementing congestion management, intelligent transportation systems architecture (ITS), and air quality studies, and developing the transportation model; reviews various transportation-oriented plans and programs for compliance with state and federal requirements. • Collects census data and responds to public inquiries regarding census information. • Serves as liaison with and makes written and oral presentations to public officials, department heads, constituents, media, and general public; transmits decisions and directives to involved parties; receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, and complaints; attends meetings in absence of the Transportation Study Director. • Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures. • Makes written and oral presentations to public officials, department heads, constituents, and general public on transportation related topics. • Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; may be required to attend seminars/training.
