Nature of Work
Under the administrative direction of the Planning and Zoning Administrator, performs a variety of tasks that involve planning, zoning, economic development, neighborhood development and enforcement issues. Significant interaction is required with citizens, contractors and the general public.

Recruiting Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in City & Regional Planning or similar planning field OR
• At least 2 years of experience in planning, zoning, development and/or code enforcement preferably in the public sector.
• Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.
• Experience working in a municipal environment desired.
Essential Functions
• Assist general public with interpretations of zoning and land use regulations pertaining to permit applications.
• Acts as a secondary point of contact for the public in the event the Administrative Assistant is unavailable.
• Performs inspections on yard setbacks, landscaping requirements and final zoning inspections.
• Analyzes and prepares reports on zoning, planning, economic development and enforcement issues.
• Works closely with the public, developers, contractors, realtors and interoffice departments.
• Analyzes and prepares reports on zoning, planning, economic development and enforcement issues.
• Reviews and approves a broad scope of residential permits.
• Performs site plan review for all aspects of land development which includes lot splits, lot consolidations, subdivisions, zoning changes and variances.
• Works closely with the public, developers, contractors, realtors and interoffice departments.
• Considers and utilizes urban design principles when approving permits and conducting research.
• Assist the Planning and Zoning Director at public meetings and will represent him in his absence.
• Other duties as assigned.
Salary:
$24.87-$34.29 (eligible for paid overtime)
