Senior Planner

City of Solon

Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $58,915.64

The Senior Planner performs advanced level planning work under the direct supervision of the Director of Planning and Community Development. Assists in the writing of Master Plans, generates detailed planning reports, and performs advanced level GIS mapping and analysis. Assists in grant writing and in the administering of census work and other local, county, state, and federal programs as required. Reviews residential site plans and commercial plans as required for compliance with the provisions for the City Zoning Code and issues Certificates of Zoning Compliance for construction. Answers the planning and zoning questions of the general public and assists applicants through the site plan review process. Advises public boards and city departments on planning issues and attends meetings of the City Planning Commission and City Council (as well as those of other city boards and commissions) as required.

The successful candidate must have strong research, communication, computer, and public interaction. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year accredited college or university with a degree in urban and regional planning, land-use planning, economic development, public administration, or a closely related field. Requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience with a government planning agency.

AICP professional certification, or the ability to acquire such certification upon eligibility. The salary range is between $50,000.00 and $58,915.64 depending upon relevant qualifications and level of experience.
