Salary Range: 100,000 - 130,000
With support and input from the City Manager and City Commission, the Director is responsible for the overall
direction and management of the Department of Public Works.
The Department of Public Works is responsible for the
infrastructure and essential services that keep Sandusky running. The department oversees Engineering, Big Island Water Works, the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Public Services divisions of Forestry, Water Distribution, Sewer Maintenance, Streets and Traffic, and Oakland Cemetery. These divisions deliver safe water, reliable utilities, and well-maintained streets and public spaces that serve the community every day.
The City of Sandusky operates under a commission/manager form of government. Seven commission members are elected for four-year terms. The City Commissioners make policy decisions, which
are implemented by the City Manager and City staff.
The City provides a full range of municipal
services including: police, fire, planning & zoning,
engineering & public works, transit, economic development, code compliance, IT, building, finance, customer accounting, human resources, streets & utilities, facilities, maintenance & properties, cemetery, forestry, horticulture, fleet maintenance, water treatment, and waste water treatment.
