Great Parks of Hamilton County (GPHC) is requesting Letter of Interest submittals from consultants to provide professional design services for the Great Miami River & Whitewater River Blueway Regional Trail Network Master Plan and Canoe/Kayak Launch Design Services project. The project location consists of river banks along the Great Miami and Whitewater Rivers within Hamilton County, Ohio; GPHC properties contiguous to the river; and the surrounding region for comprehensive connected land acquisition and trail planning.
GPHC’s master planning process identified the creation of canoe and kayak launches along the Whitewater and Great Miami River corridors. These launches will improve access to the rivers and create a variety of different trip lengths and river experiences. The master plan also envisions facilities to support different blueway experiences, such as water school programming and day trips along the corridor, as well as connections to hiking trails, bike trails, and other park amenities. To inform the final locations of the blueway trail launches, master planning for a regional shared-use path along the Great Miami River will also be included in the scope, as well as a public engagement to support all planning and design efforts.
Planning and design tasks will require varied expertise but must inform each other, requiring a multidisciplinary technical and creative approach. An ideal team will include a wide range of expertise in creative and inclusionary public engagement and marketing/communications, landscape planning, trail planning and permitting, transportation planning and policy, and environmental and ecological assessment, as well as technical design team of surveyor, architect, landscape architect, civil engineer, MEP engineer, geotechnical engineer, and graphic artist.

All consultants submitting a Letter of Interest shall register by providing the firm’s name and project contact information to Madison Stanley at mstanley@greatparks.org by July 20, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

Letter of Interest submittals are due Friday, July 29, 2022, by 4:00 p.m. Submittals shall be limited to 30 single-sided pages and provided in PDF format via email to Madison Stanley at mstanley@greatparks.org. Submittal files shall contain the firm’s name and “GMR Blueway Professional Design Services” in the file name. Files over 30MB shall be provided via link to a file sharing service.
