Associate Planner - Community Planning

Hamilton County Planning Development

Pay Range: Starting $48,000

We serve the residents of Hamilton County in more ways than you may realize. You will be responsible for conducting detailed analyses, preparing comprehensive staff reports, and providing expert advice on zoning, subdivision, and land use matters. This role involves a range of tasks, including preparing reports for various land use cases, advising public and government agencies, conducting site visits, coordinating interdepartmental reviews, and ensuring compliance with rules and regulations. The Associate Planner collaborates with developers, communicates staff responses, and plays a key role in the decision-making process during meetings and hearings

Summary of Job Duties:

•Prepares zoning and subdivision staff reports.

•Interprets findings and writes reports including ‎determination of consistency with land use plans, compliance with zoning regulations and special ‎conditions, draws conclusions, and makes recommendations for zone map and text amendment ‎cases, planned unit developments, major adjustments, zoning compliance plans and conditional ‎uses.

•Prepares presentation maps and additional information required for meetings ‎and hearings by various boards and commissions.

•Presents case and analysis to the Commissions.

•Conducts staff review conferences in townships for zone amendments and ‎prepares written summary.

Communicates with developers regarding zone amendment requests ‎and meets with developers to assess zone amendment and development plan requests.

•Advises public and other government agencies on matters relating to rules, regulations, policies, and plans related to land use, zoning, subdivision, annexation, and thoroughfares.

•Assists in reviewing sketch plans, preliminary plans, subdivision improvement plans, record plats, lot splits, and requests by County Engineer for right-of-way acquisition, vacation or dedication to determine conformance to applicable rules and regulations for private developments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field

40 Hour Work Week, generally between core hours of 7:30-5:30
