Planner/GIS Operator Hiring Range $48,000 – $62,000 D.O.Q.
This position provides an opportunity to experience all steps in the development process. The right candidate will have the opportunity to lead a community planning process, review monthly rezoning requests, evaluate preliminary plan applications, and check final plats for accuracy. GIS plays an important role in all these steps and there is plenty of opportunity to use, update, and expand our GIS capabilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, or similar, and at least two years professional planning (or combination of professional and co-op/intern experience). Familiarity with Microsoft Office, ESRI GIS products, and other layout and presentation software. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Responsibilities:
(Planning) Assist with preparation, progress and completion of a wide range of special studies; Provide daily assistance to the Delaware County Regional Commission (the “DCRPC”) and local governments; Provide daily assistance related to the management or general business operations of the DCRPC; Provide assistance and input in preparation of various planning/engineering studies performed in conjunction with: comprehensive planning, daily planning, zoning and subdivision development review; Coordinate with other staff (as assigned); Perform major and minor subdivision reviews; Utilize GIS in daily research, mapping and report preparation; Write reports in clear, concise terms, using word processing; Make concise and confident public presentations of DCRPC staff recommendations; Prepare hand-drawn and computer-based graphics; Respond to inquiries from the public, media, and other public agencies; Represent the DCRPC staff at various meetings, on various boards, committees, etc.; Attend periodic evening meetings as assigned.
(GIS) Collect, prepare and perform quality control on graphic features and associated tabular information; Digitize and edit graphic information according to schema provided by staff; Utilize custom menus and software to perform interactive file manipulations.
